Who Says that Forecasts are Unreliable?

UpperEdge’s IBM Supplier Scouting Reports have predicted for more than 9 months that leadership of the century-old firm would soon transition from Sam Palmisano to Virginia “Ginni” Rometty.

Yesterday the news officially broke that Palmisano, who will remain Chairman of the Board, is indeed retiring from the helm on January 1st. Rometty, who led the integration of PwC , is largely credited for her vision in building IBM’s services business. She will be the first female CEO in IBM’s history, joining Meg Whitman of HP and Ursula Burns of Xerox as women leading top technology firms.

UpperEdge clients and Supplier Scouting Report subscribers have had a running start in preparing for the IBM transition from Palmisano to Rometty because of the insights we provided 9 months ago. We are proud to have helped our clients stay one step ahead of the game, and are excited to continue delivering forward-looking reports to them in the future.
